Effective coaching is an “enabling” process. It enables or inspires individual employees to do more, which in turn enables or helps work groups to perform better. This ultimately enables you to achieve your goals.
Balanced Leaders analyze and understand what needs to be done then work with the employee to set goals, monitor progress made toward those goals, and reset objectives when necessary. The idea of coaching applies to the team, as well as to the individual. In your role, you have to develop individuals, but you also need to keep a pulse on your people as a team, and take action as a leader when the “game” isn’t going well.
