International Motivational Speakers: Tips on How to Book a Speaker

By September 28, 2019 No Comments

Are you looking to book an international motivational speaker for your next  company event? Booking the right   keynote speaker is crucial to the success of  your company’s event.

Bringing in an outside voice creates a spark and authority.   Not only can they help you get your message across but they can help boost motivation, change their way of thinking and leave your people feeling energized and inspired.

The following are some things to remember before booking your next speaker.

Book Ahead for Best Results

Plan to book a international motivational speaker  at least three to six months in advance of your event. The more popular or well-known the speaker is, the less time he may have in his booking schedule. If you book early, you have a better chance of getting the speaker for the date that works best for you and your audience. It will also give the the speaker time to hone his message to your audience.

Research Your International Motivational Speaker

Make sure to  listen to podcasts or watch videos  of each motivational speaker you are considering. In addition, read any feedback or reviews you can find about the speaker. If you aren’t able to locate audio or video samples or written feedback for a speaker you are considering, contact the speaker or his agent and ask that he email you links to audio or video samples or provide you with references. You owe it to your audience to know the caliber of your speaker. It also helps to discover the speaker’s style of motivational speaking and decide what will work best with your audience. For example, an effective motivational speaker for a group of at-risk youth would use a different speaking style from a motivational speaker for a group of businesspeople.

Know Your Vision

Before you book a speaker, be certain  of your vision, and what you want your speaker to deliver. Give the prospective speaker a description of the audience and what you hope the speaker will motivate them to do as a result of his speech. Have the date and time of your event handy, as well as the amount of time you would like the speaker to engage your audience.

Pre-Review the Speaker’s Contract

A contract and a deposit are common when booking a professional  international keynote speaker. The contract will contain the basic details of the booking, such as time, date, place, deposit and total fee for the speech. It also may contain other details, such as a requirement for you to pay for travel expenses, accommodations and food for the speaker. Make sure you understand exactly what you will be responsible for paying before you sign the contract.  Some speakers may also have a rider on their contract that specifies additional things such as the minimum size of the stage they will need as well as their lighting and sound requirements. The rider might contain requests you find unreasonable, such as expensive food or beverage requirements. Agree to those parts of the rider you can reasonably accommodate and refuse the other parts. The speaker or his agent has the right to accept your offer or not. In addition, review the speaker’s cancellation policy. You need to know under what circumstances you or the speaker can cancel and if it affects your deposit.

Following these basic tips will help ensure a positive experience for both your company and the international motivational speaker.
